Day of Caring Aug 3rd, 2018
Victoria County United Way's 2018/19 Community Service Project/Day of Caring was August 3, 2018 at SEVEN different locations.
Volunteer made a HUGE difference helping local agencies as well as building wheel chair ramps at homes damaged from Hurricane Harvey. The locations included:
- Habitat for Humanity – helping work on 3 new construction of homes for families vetted by Habitat. A leader at each home will guide the work. Materials will be on site.
- Two homes in Victoria damaged by Hurricane Harvey - wheelchair ramp rebuilt and carport built.. Materials and tools were provided, and we had a leader at each home to guide the work.
- Billy T. Cattan Recovery Outreach Center, 802 E. Crestwood – at their new location, volunteers planted, replaced landscaping etc. to improve the surroundings.
- Briggs Family YMCA, 1806 N. Nimitz – volunteers will be doing some exterior painting as well as some interior painting.
We assembled at 802 E Crestwood -- the new Billy T. Cattan Recovery Outreach Center. Some volunteers worked there; and some went straight toone of the other 6 locations.
